I am a first year latin student who has just recently started getting into poetry. Does anyone know of any poets who write in latin, and if so, where I can find their works? I need to practice my translation for midterms.. Thanx!

I can't think of anyone who writes in Latin.

I think your best bet will be to look for old Christian songs, hymns, etc.

If you're looking for Roman poets (obviously) writing in Latin, there's scores of them: Vergil (Aenid), Catullus, Ennius, Horace, Juvenal, Ovid, ...

A good place to start for information about them and others is http://ancienthistory.about.com/cs/latinpoets/

But also in later times (middle ages, renaissance, ...) many poets continued to write in latin (just do a search in Google for 'leo-latin poets')
