As hamlet sees the player being able to cry over fiction he describes the player with words that possess long vowels and powerful verbs for instance: ‘drown’, ‘cleave’, ‘appal’, ‘confound’, ‘amaze’. (What does this show about melancholy? What effect do these sounds have?)
