The Renga is an ancient form of Japanese poetry that was traditionally intended to be a collaborative between more than one poet. It is from this form that the haiku derived.
The Renga is what is known as a link poem, because it is made up of several different verses, and each verse is meant to reflect along the same basic theme without directly repeating the imagery of the previous verse.
It is constructed in verses which alternate between a verse of 5/7/5 and couples of 7/7 with the pattern continuing.
So I thought it would be fun to start our own on going Renga.
The way it should work is basically.
1st poster: 5/7/5
2nd poster: 7/7
3rd poster: 5/7/5
4th poster: 7/7
and continues as this so on.
It would be kind of cool if each poster would relate their own verse to some image or theme within the previous post.
So I will start things off:
Morning light shines through
dancing within the raindrops
awaken new dawn
