What wonderful poems. And no one has voted yet. I'll have to think this over.

Like Virgil said, wonderful poems. It was a hard choice!

They are, indeed, all highly worthy. It seems almost wrong to pick just one out.

Hummmm:(:(:( Six days left and only three votes. Support of these contests must come from readers or else they serve little purpose. These poets have poured their time and energy into creating these poems. The least we could do is vote for one of them!

Ok, I voted. Come on people. It's worth your time to read and vote. It won't take long.

With all the poets we have here, only five people have voted? Come on people. You're not going to hurt anyone's feelings if you read them and vote for the one you like best.

I have to say, it is a shame to choose between such fine poems. What a wonderful selection. It was so hard to pick only one. I am so impressed by these poets! I hope you master writers will reveal yourselves once the contest is over. You all deserve high praise for your work.

I voted, but it was so tough! Beautiful poems all.

Incredible poems all! This vote is not easy to decide upon. I think finally, after my second reading, I know which poem I will vote for; I feel it's the most complete and coherent. I have no idea (even guessing) who wrote any of these fine poems.

Wow, that is a hard choice. Thanks for the heads up Virgil on this contest. I gave my vote!

two of the poems I really really liked,
too bad I had to choose one of them :S
couldn't we just give points, from 1-5 to 5 songs, 5 for the one we liked best, 4 the second best and so on, then we would summarize the points
It's hard to choose just one!

I echo the sentiments of everyone else before me when I say, "That was tough!"

It was very hard to choose. I had to go back and read them all at least a few times. Well done, every one! :D It was enjoyable to read those wrapped in a blanket, sipping hot cocoa. <3 Mm, I love autumn.

Time Flowing Forever

Standing under the gray sky lintel,
Breathe in the air, tangy with
Cold, the hint of winter snow
Hanging in the air behind it.

I stop, surrounded by the shining gray
As if all the snow that will ever fall
Lies there, a snow globe waiting
To be shaken; the promise
Awaits, even if it’s never claimed.

Hovering on the cusp between day
And night, I feel the sweet sorrow
Wrap its’ arms around me as I
Contemplate the dying earth,
The dying day, the dying season,
And my childhood gone away.

Time flowing forever on the
Limitless river of infinity,
Forever beyond me,
Forever a part of me

I face forward, Janus, into the
Purple twilight, the cold a
Promise of the fierce passion
To come, the hope of it
Beckoning me forward with
Sunset’s fiery fingertips.

I stand in the purple, mournful, haunting
Dusk and, with the naked trees, listen
To earth’s hymn, sung in a minor key.

The frailty and force of life
Rest in the purple coverlet
The day drapes over me,
Tender as a mother to a
Child, as we await the night.

Congratulations Qimi!! Wonderful poem. That last stanza was exquisite!

The frailty and force of life
Rest in the purple coverlet
The day drapes over me,
Tender as a mother to a
Child, as we await the night.

It was beautiful qim! Yours was my favorite as well, though like I said before, it was a very difficult choice to make. Congrats to all!

Gimissung, my friend, I did love your poem best; I voted for it. Congratulations! It was a difficult choice though. Since, they all were so great, can we now find out who wrote each. I think everyone here was a winner.

Thank you all, you dear people. Mostly it's nice to have such wonderful friends! They were all good poems, I enjoyed reading each of them. I know who wrote two of them, and would love to know who wrote the others. Thank you, again, Virgil, Maryd, Pendragon, skib, Janine, for your warm good wishes.
