Scarlet Letter - need help

Hi,

I'm trying to write a course paper about the Scarlet Letter and the reinvention of Puritanism. Basically, the idea is to point out what stylistic(literary) devices Hawthorne uses to represent Puritanism (how it is represented) in his novel.
I find this to be quite a difficult task, and would be grateful for any suggestions or ideas.
