Hello,

I am doing a research paper on Brave New World and I wanted to know what a feminist literary critic would think about the style of dress of the characters in Brave New World. It would be great if you could give me as much information as possible on what it might symbolize or how it might relate to gender roles and sexuality in the book.

Please Please help me!:crash:

Hmmm, interesting topic. What I remember most about the women's dress is that some of wear belts filled with contraceptives. This jives with the general attitude towards sex; both men and women are encouraged to have lots of sexual encounters, to keep them 'happy' enough to not question the oppressive government. So at least sexually, women are men's "equals" in Brave New World.

For more on gender and sexuality in the novel, check out this link:

There are also quotes for the theme of sex, under the blue "quotes" tab.

Good luck!
