It was definitely Twain. :)

Out of curiosity, does anyone happen to know where said it and what was the context? I think I remember a speaker once stateing that Twain loved to make fun of the views of that time. Such as, in order to hold her dignity, a woman must faint if she happens to hear a word such as "thigh".
Is this why he made the quote?

The Quote:

"Man is the Only Animal that Blushes. Or needs to."
-- Pudd'nhead Wilson's New Calendar

is from Twain's Following the Equator, Chapter 27.
