Monster Thoughts

The night falls and I know the worst
The horrible, crucifying thirst—
That haunts me now that I, an undead,
Must seek the living blood as daily bread.
I did not ask for this fate to come—
Yet I—even I shall pass it on
To some other wretch, who much like myself
Will one day come to hate himself…

The moon comes up over the hills,
Within my blood the bloodlust thrills;
Werewolf by night, and man by day
At night to kill and by day to pray
I asked not for this dreadful curse
But things have gone from bad to worse.
I dream each time the change transmits
Of a silver bullet with my name on it!

Who the devil am I now?
I thought that I was one Aaron Crowle,
But my left arm belongs to Gerald Tate.
And the right lung to the old Prelate.
Is it Paul Thomas’ heart that beats inside?
Is that the right hand of Simon McBride?
We were all dead of that I am certain,
Now even fire won’t pull the curtain!

The Hallower

See how she draws the hallowed face
then stabs
the hallowed ball, orange and slimy,
she scoops
the guts upon the floor
then slips
in its muck and mire as
she falls
gnashing her teeth
she screams
hallow me, hallow you, hallow weeeeeeeeeen!

Thank you Pen!

Look what's in your attic
Look what's on your walls
Peer into the cellar
What is that that calls
They say you have a lot upstairs
It drips upon your sleeve
But ghastly things are deep inside
Your web of lies you weave.
