I have just started this book. I read "A Long Fatal Love Chase" a few months ago and was astounded at the writing. I found background on the book and found she is one of the first gothic novelists. I'm looking forward to reading the other side of Lousia Alcott. Has anyone else read this?

I did, a few years back. When I first saw the book in a second hand bookshop, I was surprised to see Alcott as the author of such a thriller. (I have always associated her with "Little Women" etc and I was deeply intrigued so I bought it.) It somehow reminds me of "Candide" because it makes one think that the world is such a small place.
