To whom it may concern:

Has anyone read the de Maupassant story "The Necklace"? It's a well-written piece of prose and I'd like to see it on the Guy de Maupassant page here in www.online-literature.com.

Respectfully yours.

It is on the Maupassant page :)

Because it has been translated from the French, there are a few different versions of it, and they have different titles.

Hey,

Thanks, Logos! I've been looking for this story 'cause we put out a play in school for this particular story (I got to play the part of a server in the Minister's ball) and thus it has a kind of "sentimental value" for me.

johnlennon30,

What specifically did you like so much about "The Necklace"? Although I have not read anything else by de Maupassant, I very much enjoyed this story. For me, the shock at the end to the story is what made me like it so much.

Hey Sabrina.reads and johnlennon30! I just wanted to say that I just read this story in my English class. I really enjoyed it. Like you Sabrina.reads I have not read any of his other works, but I did enjoy this one. I enjoyed the ending of this short story very much. I felt pretty bad for her husband throughout the story. In our class discussion one of my peers had stated that she wished he would have written one more line in this story at the end. Do you think that it needed another line and if so how would you have ended it? Johnlennon30, I think that it is awesome that you were able to experience this book in a different way.
