Hi, I have to write two essays about Pride and Prejudice. One must be about the character of Darcy, and the other one must deal with idioms!!
I'm looking for someone who could help me to find idioms in this novel. I'm a French girl, so it's difficult for me to recognize English idioms.
Please, help me quickly!!!!

You have a very difficult assignment.
To search for idioms – an expression whose meaning can't be inferred from the words that make it up - , especially for a non native speaker, is doubly difficult, as the language has changed in 200 years. Even for a native speaker, this would require a very careful reading, egz. “They attacked him in various ways; with barefaced questions, “ chp 3, 'attacked' and 'barefaced' are used in idiomatic way. The expression “she was going down the dance” chp 3, is both idiomatic and archaic, an example of the change in language usage.
If you can get a copy of Understanding Pride and Prejudice by Debra Teachman, ISBN: 0313301263, a student casebook to issues, sources, and historical documents, might be helpful.
Best of luck with the assignment.
