I like to show off my typing speed, but I won't post it until the rest of you have tried it: ;)

It's kinda fun to get to test your typing speed with stuff from a novel!

- Test Time: 01:00
- Gross Speed: 79 WPM
- Errors: 2

Oh, poor Sancho. :D I was forced to take typing twice, in 7th and 10th grade. It's a grueling process of "asa ;l; asa ;l; asa ;l; asa ;l;" next line " ftf jyj ftf jyj ftf jyj ftf jyj" next line "asa ;l; asa ;l; asa ;l; asa ;l;"..... I thought it was useless torture, but now I find that I forget about the keys when I'm typing! It's like my thoughts just kind of appear on the screen. So much easier than speaking. :p Well worth it.

When I hand my hands in the proper typing positions I typed 16 WPM, when I two fingered it I typed 28 WPM. WHOO HOO!!!!!!!

thanks to remind me that Emily. I did not take that at school, but when I was entering my present position, my mother was forcing me to practise (whole summer) hihi I was so fed up with it. But I feel a lot better now, even I do not type 100% perfect.
When thinking about it again, it was "chat" that helped me to learn :) too many nice people to miss, so I had to learn to type quickly

I do not know my speed when typing from a source, but when typing my own thoughts I do well over 100 wpm with 100% accuracy (I can tell when I make a mistake and backspace accordingly).

Were we allowed to backspace on that test? No fair. My teacher always told us we couldn't when she tested us.

Sancho, i found yours to be the most impressive, esp. after reading that wonderful random thought re: the kids, drink umbrellas, and dog mess.
i asked dad once what the patron saint for firemen is (a guy wanted a small charm from the store i was at, and i didn't know the answer). he didn't know, and so spent at least five minutes at work searching google, i could hear him typing over the phone. the man and his wife were so patient, and dad spent all that time. it broke my heart, because i'm sure he had other things he could have been doing, and men weren't taught to type back in the '60's.
i think it was one of the kindest things he ever did.
and it impresses the hell out of me that you put in that extra time typing to share with us on this forum,
thank you. :)

good call amuse. i second that thought (motion?)
anyhow, i cant get that dratted test to work, some problem with my java platform, so oc that i am, i redownloaded java and it still dont work. im not that compulsive that i want to spend precious precious time figuring it out. i did find another test online though, and i do about 87 wpm with 98% accuracy. depends on how much coffee i've had, cause i tried it at different times of day (just for giggles) and it varies by as much as ten wpm.....funky

:)
i do a high of 88, a low of 30. 54 wpm with 99% accuracy. big deal.
that's not from this test, i took one at school for a little typing certificate. they give it to you three times, each time was the same.

Pretty bad. Or very bad actually. My problem is the erros (and not being able to remember enough of the text at a time). The only thing I can say is that it could have been worse, and that "in real life" I actually type a bot faster, cos I know what Im supposed to type. For ex all this Ive typed in under 1 minute (I think). ;);)

well, I suppose there should be some test that would measure the speed of typing the text we imagine. It would be a lot easier... never know how to type something from the book and with writing my mind, I am luckier... on the other hand, I must admit that my mind is sometimes faster than fingers... but this is the destiny of "running brain" :goof: still thinking about something, even at night... :brickwall

Itīs harder to type in english, then I have to think about spelling.

(Well, actually I have to read evrything I write at least twice to make sure I do not make any really bad spelling mistakes, while editing I took out three mistakes)

According to this this I type 31 words per minute and I made 3 mistakes. I comfort myself with the thought that I have other qualities.
Lots of them.
Perhaps not recognizable, but I have them.
I can eat cookies really fast.
And I can drink coffee faster than any one else at my work. Thatīs got to be worth something?

Hi Isagel,

this makes two of us :) with the coffee, I think I am faster, but then again I am addicted to it... :) I drink coffee all the time, till one day.....

theme for new thread, what do you think? ;)

Not bad, considering I tend to glance down at my fingers and usually only use six or seven fingers to type. Can't forget the thumb, for the spacebar!

I was a secretary and still type all day  .. Oops.. I am glad my boss does not see this. Though I do agree it is a little bit harder in English - I don't have words that I can type on the automatic pilot like I do in Dutch. But still..

My net speed ended up as 75 WPM with four errors.
Despite feeling a little nervous, I felt that I did relatively well, and expected worse. :p
