Just finished reading Huck Finn (for the third time) in a continuting education class. This time I was swept away by all of the different layers that that had escaped me before. The strongest realization was that it is a dramatization of Rousseau's philosophy. I see that now, very clearly. Another discovery was the biblical story line. I think it may imply that Jim was a Christ figure. Has anyone else seen the novel in this way? I know that Twain was not a religious man but the implications of this interpretation fascinate me. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
