I'm curious as to how other people feel about Claudius. He appears guilt ridden and repentant. Does it show that he's not just a cold blooded murderer?

I think he was regretful, but not repentant. Repentance implies a change. When one repents of sin he turns away from it. If one is regretful he does not necessarily commit to change. If Claudius had been repentant that he would not have killed Hamlet and he would have stopped Gertrude from drinking. Claudius was looking out for number one. He did not want the truth to be known more than he wanted to repent.
