I've found a continuity error in The Marvelous Land of Oz. In The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Baum clearly states that no one in Oz had ever seen a dog before. In the sequel he must have forgotten this and placed a small dog running around Emerald City. Also, did Tin Woodman forget about the reason he wanted a heart? Instead of going to find his lost love he runs off to become Emperor of the Winkies.

I dont think it was continuity error ( although it has been agood 9 years since Ive read the books at least) as I rember it the scarecrow's brains ( and you really need to read on through the series) wait a minite wasnt the scarecrow the emporor?
Oh  It was because he could do more good to more people with his heart as a ruler and his heart would not allow him to make a selfish choice, and choose himself over others.
The Dog if its not Toto would be because in Oz once somthing happens manything s can happen, Im sure somewhere it says once someone thinks of somthing in oz it becomes real so after they saw the first dog people thought of them and along pop more dogs.

No, Tip has to become Ozma first in The Marvelous Land of Oz.
