Is it a book or a religion?

They say there is heart and a mind, what is the difference?
Don't tell me anything that sounds like only a scienctist can understand, tell me through natural science.

What controls the brain? We do. (or to be more precise, the interplay between the stimulatory and inhibitory neurons).

"What controls the brain? The Mind. What controls the Mind? The Self. What controls the Self? Itself." - Marvin Minsky.

I am going to stay away the monkey thread and read what they gotta say.

that is a qood question which I was trying to figure out a long time ago.

What is creative?- Certainly not novel sense. Can you teach someone to be creative? Surely you can't the individual must do it for himself.
First be a free person then whatever you create is beautiful/

I don't know what controls the brain, but why can't the brain always control the body? I mean, why can't we time our illnesses etc (and by etc you know exactly what I mean) to coincide with our hectic schedules? Have you ever been in a meeting while hungry (or worse) and your stomach makes strange noises? Or have you ever caught the flu and had a final? And you went to the final anyway because the evil Dr. Zhong wouldn't believe you if you said you were sick, so you went to the final and rushed through it and got a b instead of an A because you had to hurry, and then you handed in your paper, went to the ladies room, hurled, walked to your car (parked on the other side of campus because the parking situation at State college is a joke) driven home and finished hurling?

It was once said the body follows the mind. But when I think, the mind follows the body. Desires and hungry tells the mind what to do and feel.

Yet the mind controls the limbs.

So the mind and the body is a good cartesian question. However, one can master both mind and body.

well, in my opinion, the body and brain is much like a computer system, that operates on a binary type basis...on and off...either the nerve fires...or it doesn't (thats how they were able to interface electronics with rat nerve tissue, very cool!) so, basically with all of the ideas our human machine needs to process its no wonder there are some problems.

Now on a metaphysical sense waht controls the thought patterns, well, I believe it is some form of soul or energy, something to trigger the thought patterns, and I believe that is what is unique about each person, so without the soul, we are essentially a biodegradeable computer.

perceptions controls the brain. Varies perception. There has to be a reaction that one believes he or that is different.

i think the mind follows the body as much as the body follows the mind. i think both are controlled through a complex system of exterior influences. if someone were to slap me, i would think of four things before i reacted: 1) why did they slap me, 2) what gender are they, boy/girl? if boy continue on to question 3. 3) why did he "slap" me? 4) how big is he?
conclusion, big boy: he was distracting me and soon, oops theres the punch, completely broadsided me
scrawny boy:the kid can't hit for crap so he is trying to show whos boss, however inefectively, ignore, walk away unless he does it again, tell him to stop, third time is third stike, let him have the entire can of WHOOPA-- at once.
any size girl:if something was said never say it again.

other people's minds might go straight to fighting regardless of any factors, others wouldn't fight back at all.
it all depends on your genetic makeup i guess

On a side note: The brain alone burns one fifth of the energy the body requires over the course of a day. Think about it next time you raid the frige at midnight ;)

when one says soul, he doesn't know he is being control by the manipulation of thought.
