Namely... did the planners of the Revolution really call themselves "Jacques?" If Louis XV was the trigger of the French Revolution why isn't he a main character in the novel, instead of Monseigneur?

The noves is not historically accurate at all. "jacques" was the name of all common French. And Louis XV wasn't the trigger of the french revolution anyway- there is a huge number of different reasons: political, economical and social that led to the revolution.

Dickens mostly used Carlyle's account of the revolution and there is a huge number of mistakes there. Plus Carlyle was British and very unsympathetic to the revolution. Robespierre `by his descriptions is worth than Satan :)
