i always got the feeling romeo didn't truly love juliet.
Remember how much he pined for Rosalind at the beginning of the book, claiming that that was true love and eternal, the next thing you know he starts chasing another girl and telling her that his love for her is true and eternal. and then he rushes into a marriage with her. would it have lasted if they hadn't died less than a week after they first met?
(btw, i haven't studied closely this play, so you might want to look to the play to see if my thesis is supported by anythin more than my bias)

There are arguments, however, that the way in which Romeo speaks illustrates his love for Juliet. If you look closely at his figurative speech when talking about Rosaline vs. talking about Juliet, you may find important differences.
