Fearing Change is moot,
since the only Constant is
Change, per Asimov.

"The only constant is change, continuing change, inevitable change, that is the dominant factor in society today. No sensible decision can be made any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be."

Get a clue, Sherlock—
Shock poetry not stylish
Anymore here these days…

Write of love and pain—
Ecstasy and broken dreams
Show us—do not tell…

How does rejection
Really tear a heart—rip it
Apart, make you cry?

A tender moment,
How it seems to last forever—
Replayed in your dreams…

Tears fall like the rain—
Heart shatters, glass imprisoned—
Joy soars on the wind…

Let us have beauty—
Come tempt us—flirtatious words
Even darkness made real…

we know where we are,
when life's Hell brings pain,
we have few to guide us
through immolation lane
Talk of happiness--
Elated thoughts,
to curtail the strain,
we feel from antagnostic eyes,
seeping life turned old,
from wisps of abound aesthetics,
to dreams turned obscured mold
--like Saruman's oscillating eye,
whites of pupils supplanted gold--

(sorry, I don't know the standard Haiku format)

Pendragon

(sorry, I don't know the standard Haiku format)

'Dole, a Haiku has seventeen syllables, divided thus:
5 in the first line
7 in the second
5 in the third

To do a poem in Haiku, connect Haiku until you reach your point. Here, no form to follow. On the other thread, last line of the previous Haiku becomes the first line of the next, so follow suit. You can still get amazing results!

Taking time to explain
The rules and regulations—
Just shows that you care…

We are here for fun,
Writing is our green playground—
Leave none misinformed…

Common courtesy,
Once shown, will be remembered—
And returned in kind

Give a helping hand
When you see someone needy
Next time could be you

So come lean on me—
Whenever you are not so strong—
I help carry you…

The day swiftly comes—
When we are all gonna need,
Somebody to lean on…

Talk to me my friend,
If you have a hard problem,
I am still on line…

Between us together.
We may find right solutions,
On how to solve it…

If you need a hand
In your moment of sorrow—
Cry on my shoulder

I will be your friend—
In Shadows or sunshine, rain
Or rainbow, still close…

Do you understand—
Differences make strength—
So come lean on me…

I Go Not Quietly Into the Night

What ever happens
I just want you to recall
All the best of times…

Do not waste your tears
Wondering “what if”—nothing
Changes destiny…

Some are born great, others
Have greatness thrust upon them—
Some remain unknown…

I had my moments—
The times I knew I had done
The impossible—

When I stood alone,
But I would never back down—
Standing for justice…

Maybe to the world,
I will never be famous—
Fame is so fleeting….

You will recall words
Written by a poor poet—
Poems outlive the man…

Who was I anyway
But forum verses written—
And an old photo?

And of course, disease,
My intellect and sad curse—
The Brilliant madness…

Bi-Polar. Mood-Swings.
Psychic pendulum motion—
Never really rests…

I live with stigma
Erected by foolish ones—
Unwilling to learn…

I go not to Death.
I fear no Grim Reaper’s Scythe—
Take me, he cannot…

When my time comes, then
The Dark Angel must fight me
Not quietly I pass…

Even Angels know
Fiery is human spirit—
And they reverence...

Sage Atop Mountain

Why do they inquire—
As if I were some Guru
Sitting atop cliffs…

Above all chaos,
Contemplating mysteries—
Cosmic and Divine…

When they get answers,
Knowledge displeases their palette,
Cannot digest truth…

If you want falsehoods,
Then ask others your deep questions—
I tell only truths…

You cannot take truth—
That much is self-evident;
Let the old sage rest…

Comfort offered I,
Refused, rejected, spurned—
Seek your own path now

Lessons life teaches all,
Some learn quickly; some never—
Balance must become…

Every yin has yang,
Every action, reaction—
Your choices will make you

My Life

entitled to think,
misunderstood, mistaken, lost—
but it is my life…

whether correct or
incorrect differs little—
I live my own life…

think whatever I think,
who died and left you in charge?
get out of my life…

not correct? really?
momentous revelation—
this is my life, Mac…

I simply require
nobody’s instructions telling
how to live my life…

go peddle papers
some other street corner, pal—
but this is my life…

What Is Truth

Wondering and waiting,
Doing serious assessments—
Why am I still here?

Heartache and headache,
Holding tightly to maybe—
Have I learned nothing?

Broken dreams, memories—
How it was, how it could be—
How about the truth?

Smile and speak a lie,
Tell them all everything’s all right—
Hide secrets within…

Hope that they never
See the man inside that bleeds—
Stumble onward, try…

Darkness’ Shadows grow,
Ignites cerebral forest fire,
Runs my nerves, live wires—

They do not understand,
Comprehension never wins—
How long will I last?

Shock and burning brain
Takes its toll, ravages me—
Help arrives—in time?

They have waiting lists,
Emergency—sorry, no
Trying to hold on…

Are you sure you haven’t?
Gentle Zephyr blowing by,
Fragrance drifts near…

Colors paint Sunset
On idyllic autumn afternoons—
Yet is this not peace?

Birds singing chorus
Insects and evening frogs join—
Joyful noise resounds…

Walk silent woodlands,
See what noisy people miss—
Chipmunk, lizard, deer…

Heron stalking creek,
Fox out hunting cottontails,
Showy Orchis bloom…

Down a trail waterfalls,
Whispers secrets in the mist,
Known to you alone…

Tucked away, hid
Now where few remember them
Monoliths share thoughts…

Sometimes forget where
The beaten pathway takes you—
Find peace on your own

Pen got me to thinking so this is also for my friend Lar

My friend, so you need
comfort and encouragement
Please take time to pray

Worry swells within
heart so heavy as to sink
Unburden yourself

Not a sparrow falls
That goes unnoticed by Him
Much greater are you

When sorrow is great
Rely more upon His strength
Instead of your own

I am so sorry
That you have to suffer so
But this will not last

The climb to the top
Takes so much effort and time
There’s Glory up there

But you must have peace
Along your tedious climb
Find the joy in Him

Until you find peace
you can count on your friends here
To offer support

I wasnt sure whether to post it in a different thread, ultimately decided to post it here anyway. This is close to a haiku but in a 5-7-7 syllable format.
Post ur comments if u wish, but I already know that its *very* typical and stuff, just posting it because... as they say- "sharing is caring"!

Trapped in time's trammel
Fighting to be free I yell
While the fears in me swell.

I try not to care
Try to overlook the fear
Seeking relief everywhere.

Time flies by, they say,
The vexing pasts shooed away
Leaving nothing on their way.

So i shut my eyes
Gulping the upsurge of sighs,
Waiting for Phoebus to rise.

Pretty banal, eh? :( Any suggestions?

P.S. Oh and should I perhaps open a new thread for this? comments in here might hurt the main topic of this thread...

The nitpickers would say seven, because you used a contraction. Play with form all you wish. Invent a new form. Try winning the form poetry contest and then make us use that new form to write poetry! Someone years ago had to lay out the rules for haiku, tanka, cinquain, sonnet, etc. Good Luck! http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/Smilies/Astronat.gif

Healing

support is never
a harshly spoken language—
soft words repel wrath…

gentle like spring rain,
not torrential downpour—
that causes only flooding…

when the tears won’t stop
because of unmended wounds,
first aid is required…

rejection is fire
burning fiercely out of hand
love will find a way…

[Actually, there are many more here who are kind and caring, bless you all ] :) Kizzo

I want to say more
Express myself completely
I want you to hear

Can I find the words
And will you understand them
Opinion concise

This, a new chapter
Playing out before my eyes
Curiosity

No longer a child
I have become my full self
I have found my voice

So interesting
To find one’s self in this place
Capable and strong

This is my moment
Life beyond what I have known
Ready for the morn’.

I’ve sat here too long.
My rear has begun to hurt.
I should go to bed.

I don’t want to leave.
I want to read what you write
Expanding the mind.

So curse you lit net,
And my addiction to you!
How can I resist?

memory fading
snowy coiffure replaces
raven hair so fine

flickers of mem'ry
brighten your sweet wizened face
you are glad I came

when you hold my hand
I don't really want to go
so much to be said

you bid me farewell
and I see a tiny child
hiding in your face

Ösk is the Icelandic word for wish, and that was my grandma's name :)http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l108/AbsalomKane/Smilies/Bravo.gif

You ever notice:
Sadness arrives unbidden,
Hope has to be sought…

Things we require most
Tuck themselves away somewhere—
Evil is forever bold…

I thought myself kind,
But the mirror man not so—
I don’t understand…

Stranger looking at
Me, countenance says it’s me—
Why am I confused?

Say the right words, still
Somehow I always end wrong—
I curse this tongue…

Maybe you don’t know,
Maybe you cannot see me—
Man behind the mask…

I am here anyway
More than words on Computer screens—
I feel the agony…

So calm, so quiet
I'm lost in the shelves of books
In the library

It's only forever—
You can exist with the pain,
Not fatal, you know…

Deal with the shunning—
Natural reactions—what
Did you expect? Roses?

It is for the best
Isolation may heal what
Medicine cannot…

Face up to the facts:
You were dealt a bad hand, but
You must play the cards…

Switch seats with me?
Viewpoint become different?
It’s only forever…

Of all the heavens,
Let me cherish the one drop
Of dew in a leaf.

Lucid as it is,
Hanging by the very edge,
Swaying timidly;

Scented with autumn,
Mirroring the cosmic world
In its tiny frame.

Limning my feelings,
Like a never-shed tear,
Or unspoken word…

Heaven mine, let me
Once more to your wondrous self
Admit adorance.

Were on fire this weekend;

Reverberated anew,
And Eden drew close.

I wonder why I feel so wonderfully wonderful today!! :D

Sunshine filters through
Cloud cover promising dampness—
Cardinal sings “Wet, wet”…

Cannot pierce fog,
Enshrouding my mountains—
Wet blanket covered…

The hikers out there,
On their tireless journey from
Georgia up to Maine…

Along the brown thread,
That curves along woodlands—
And passes nearby me…

To conquer the trail.
You must conquer Virginia,
More than a fourth…

Good fortune to all,
I have walked your pathway
Ever, ever on...

can one stop the breath
each day as we awaken
the heart continues

the days pass quickly
in the land of emotions
there are but two sides

there is the darkness
bringing fear and misery
anxious to make friends

requesting your life
spinning a chain of deceit
hoping for your bond

shall we sit as one
feel the closeness of our thoughts
seamless in their world

soon it becomes real
this place of darkness and gloom
the cruel comfort

how does one escape
this one hapless companion
is there no one there

Give someone roses
While fragrance may be enjoyed—
Useless after death…

Tell them of your love,
While yet them may respond for—
No tombstone responds…

Share what you want now—
Tomorrow is not promised—
Graves make cold companions…

But we have today,
Who needs distant tomorrows,
Here and now is fine…

for you to know
the thoughts of man
are universal in their heart

you're not alone in your pain
it is a gainful way

though it's ache is pure and hard
momentary is the misty dim

held tight gripping firm
the window releases the view

so then begins another wish
of your delightful admonition

i do know and yes i am
to be another day

Bird Diversity

Eagle soars so high
yet vision is very keen,
Won't miss a mouse move...

Little Falcon swift,
None can match her diving speed—
No prey escapes her...

Albatross wingspread,
Greatest that avian possess,
Upon the wind soars...

Tiny Hummingbird,
Can hover silent, reverse—
Fastest wings ever...

Ostrich speed swift,
But its wings total useless,
Bird diversity ...

Storms of my mind blow...

An evil divine
in the allure of her eyes,
lustful and pure

A fire burns
in the caress of her arms,
timid and sure

Stray dreams in the night
in the passion of her kiss:
mirage that was her.

Twain Quote Revisited

when in doubt, speak true,
the best part of that being—
you know what you said...

because if you lie,
you have to remember all
details exactly...

should you leave one out,
you will trip over that tongue—
caught in your own words...

besides, no one will
believe a confirmed liar—
even speaking truth...

Someday

Call me cynical,
Pessimistic, whatever—
The tunnel grows dark…

Keep looking for light,
Prayers, poems, promises—
No blaze of glory…

Wars and rumors, yes—
You ain’t kidding, we got ‘em—
Earthquakes, pestilence…

End of all Time Come?
Could be yes, could be no, but
Are you ready if…

Because the problem
With unknown factors is this:
One day Someday comes…
