The biography says he was born in 1886, which doesn't seem plausible given the other information presented.

Then it means he wrote the War of the Worlds when he was 12, and became a teacher-pupil at Midhurst Grammar School three years before he was born. I've looked at a few other sources and they say he was born in 1866.

Searched other sites, Aequo is right, it's 1866. I think it's just a bug. Thanks for the idea thoug, Aequo, I never thought about checking if the dates were legit :).

Merriam Webster's Encyclopedia of Literature confirms 1866.
