Riddleman

Hey guys!
I always liked Alice's adventures in wonderland (I have a bit of a soft spot for blondes:yawnb: ). The mad hatter, the red queen, the Cheshire cat, the freaky caterpillar: good stuff! Alice-Writer Lewis Carroll was a bit of a riddlelover and a math wizz, so he's left quite a few riddles. Some of them are kinda tricky, but here's an easy one of his:
John gave his brother James a box:
About it there were many locks.
James woke and said it gave him pain;
So gave it back to John again.
The box was not with lid supplied,
Yet caused two lids to open wide;A
And all these locks had never a key-
What kind of box, then, could it be?
Good luck guys.
