A library patron believes the following quotation is from Voltaire, but I have not been able to verify it. the quotation is: "The gloomy month of November in which the people of England hang and drown themselves." I have had references to the quote in the works of Burke and Jane Carlyle, but both use it with quotation marks so it is not their original thought. Also used by Andre Malraux. Any deifinitive citations gratefully accepted.
