I am currently working on a report in the text film faithfulness, and the power the audience has over the director's choice of scenes and decisions in film making. Our aim is to examine the audiences' perception of faithfulness, director's reasons for making changes which reduces the degree of faithfulness of the film adaptation, and the differences between the processes of imagination between the director and his audience. Our case study here is the Pride and Prejudice text by Jane Austen vs the Pride and Prejudice film (2005).
As I am required to dedicate a part of the report to the audiences' perception of the film faithfulness, I would be grateful if some people could express their views on this topic. Thank you in advance :)
