i need to find a few metaphors and similes in the intro.. ive found one,

but this crapz confusing! help?:sick:

grr, and then i have to do a two page analysis and THEN answer 12 questions. 2 tuffies are:
1. why does the author use tree analogies?
2. How does the mention of the Scarlet Letter tie into the introduction of the story?

I tried looking to help you out, but I found it very hard to just scan and find one, as you can in many books today. What i found that helps is breaking the sentences down into clauses and phrases, because of the different way people wrote back in the day. Sometimes you think that just seeing the words "like" or "as" means simile, but in the strange sentence structure of the book, it might not actually be one.

Also, sorry but I have no clue what a tree analogy is. Either that or I know what it is but I don't know what it's named.

The scarlet letter, as you probably know, is embroidered on Hester's clothes, and is basically what the whole book is about, so I don't really know what your talking about ;) .
