...Not really a group of "philosophers," but they had their own philosophy that involved the use of drugs: the Beat generation of authors, poets, artists, and musicians. I suggest you read Jack Kerouac's "On the Road," Allen Ginsberg's "Howl," and William S. Burrough's "Naked Lunch."

It could never hurt to check out the various books by Carlos Castaneda. I would suggest "Journey to Ixtlan", "A Separate Reality", etc...

Another "trippy" book is "Diary of a Drug Fiend" by Aleister Crowley.

One other good read is "The Cocaine Letters" by Freud.

Why your post reminded me of two other writers, I have no idea, but, hitchhiker, you may also enjoy anything by Ram Dass, Dr. Timothy Leary, and Robert Anton Wilson. I have no doubt, you would find them all worth reading.

I would seriously check out Herman Hesse. Especially Steppenwolf.

Also, Hunter S. Thompson. Again, he's not a philosopher, but he's very, very trippy.
