Greetings, kashka, welcome to the forum. ;)
Though this site offers a decent, condensed biography of Virginia Woolf, if you search for a written and published biography of her, I have heard good things of The Measure Of Life: Virginia Woolf's Last Years by Herbert Marder and Moments Of Being: Autobiographical Writings by Virginia Woolf.
Good luck!

Hello! Thank you both for the kind welcome :D
Thanks for the suggestions, i've been looking into them. Doesn't seem to be many reviews on them so far, but i'll keep looking.
The other i've found is by Hermione Lee, it just looks a bit of an accademic text, and i'd rather something a bit lighter... i shall report back when I find more.

Try her nephew Quentin Bell's bio (1970's): titled, simply, Virginia Woolf (I think). Quite readable; in fact fascinating, though doesnt' include a critical approach to her works.

Hello Kashka!
I could recommend you a remarkable quality book on Virginia Woolf, but the thing is, it is a French book and I haven't seen any available English version by now... :(
Still I can give you its references:
LEMASSON Alexandra, Virginia Woolf
Gallimard Editions, 2005
ISBN:2070307263
I hope you'll find it translated very soon... :)
I'll have a closer look at such other books but I'm afraid they would be a bit too academic and specialized for your purposes...
Have a nice day! :)

A good, less academic biography of Virginia Woolf is the one written by James King. It is based heavily on her diaries and letters. It is easy to follow, not speculative, and an interesting read.
