Has anyone read Firebelly by JC Michaels? It strikes me that this would appeal to a lot of folks asking about philosophy and literature. It is a well written story with the underlying big ideas of existentialism - and it is caught up in an interesting modern story about growing up, the choices that we make and how we live our lives. It has three really unusual "primers" at the beginning that are full of so many ideas that we could discuss them for a long time. The primers relate to what follows and it is a creatively conceived structure. I would be curious to see what others think.

Sounds like an interesting read I'll add to the running list of books to read.
