HELP ON heart of darkness

I have a coursework essay to do and i have no idea what to write. The question is: Some people read Heart of Darkness only as a strongly worded attack on the imperialism of its day. Is that the heart of the novel, or does Marlow's narrative seem "to throw a kind of light" on other ideas as well?

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.
