I am curious to know who else has picked up on the theme of closed/locked doors, windows and gates vs. open. This theme is pretty subtle but it contributes to the "dangerous" and "unwelcome" overtones of this book. I am particularly drawn to Nelly's description of the Heights after Heathcliff passed away. The gates and doors were finally open and Heathcliff's ominous presence was literally replaced with fresh air!
