Another forum of which I am a member has a thread like this. Essentially, whenever you change your avatar or signature and want to tell people about it, you can announce it in here for commentary; title and location changes would probably be open for discussion, as well. Plus, hopefully, it'll draw the avatar/signature posts out of the PAM threads and open them up to more interesting conversation...

Me, I changed my avatar to a wicked-cool video game character, and tweaked my signature a bit for extra color. It's also been changed so that my current avatar will be in bold (so I don't have to explain). In addition, my subtitle, location, and occupation all change accordingly whenever I change avatars.

Oh, and a disclaimer: I profoundly apologize if there's a thread like this deep within the recesses of the Forums, but I haven't seen one.

I still like your original avatar best. Aaaaaahhh! Why is everyone changing on me?

Let's see....

I started with St. George and the Dragon
I changed to Moby Dave warming his coffee with his firey breath.
Went to a Pilgrim red dragon for a while.
Changed to a multicolored Chinese dragon.
Now, I made my own personal atvar from bits and peices. I thinlk I'll stick with it a while, but other dragons lurk in my files ready to be recreated...

I did add the poem to my signature....

I had charlie brown since I was able to post an avatar, then I went to Beaker because I couldn't find a grover that fit, I just found a Grover that fit and viola!

I've been a registered used since I signed up, I changed to pizzazzzy pizza chick because I was hungry, went to beakerese, now to a grover phrase.

Signature has been about the same since I signed up.

Okay, uh ... uhm ...

I think I had these avatars:
First, a picture of a waterfall
Second, the fairy that played the flute
Third, the little angel-like girl
Fourth, that's Faith

My signatures are a different matter .. I can't possibly remember them all but I'll try *ahem*

Most of them had something to do with the law, one was in Latin, one in German and one was a song by Françoise Hardy.

I'm absolutely drawing a blank on my first avatar here. When Koa comes back, perhaps she can remember. ... Jay? Logos? Anyone else from back then remember what I was? :p
EDIT: I remember, I remember! It was a witty bitty kitten. That's from when the avatar restrictions were tiiiiiny.

Koa remembered that I had an avatar of myself, but I don't think I had that for very long. That's right, it wasn't, because she said I changed Alex to me, and people complained (guess they prefer his face to mine :p), so I changed it back.

As aforementioned, there was Malcolm Macdowell as Alex, from Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange. I joined just after I read the book (I actually found the Forum by searching for an online version, albeit illegal, so I could make my friend in Maryland read it). That's also why I have "655321" in my name (Alex's prison ID number in the story.)

After that I was the Swedish Chef, and now I am a cartoon penguin. :D

My under-the-name-thing has always been "freaky geeky."

My first signature was "Life's too short to stay on topic," because I was one of the people who always seemed to steer threads off course. Now it's two lines from the song "Gravity" by the Dresden Dolls.

My very first avy was

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y52/soulful_violin/squirrel28.gif

And if I do remember correctly, my custom user title was "Astronut"...

After that I changed to

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y52/soulful_violin/Strad2.gif

From that to

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y52/soulful_violin/mucha-alphonse-la-plume-2103540.jpg

I later changed to a photo of myself playing the violin (though only briefly), and since then have moved on to the current avatar. My signature has remained basically the same, though it was only recently that I added an extra quote from Mozart.

Must run now.

yay Darlin' haven't seen you for a while.
How is your ear feeling dear Riesa? Sorry I talked it off this morning. Well you are so kind and easy to talk to I guess. And it was fun having tea with you.

Okay that is absolutely it, I have had it. Big time. A few days ago Willow tried helping Clayton to get this digital camera thing going. We have pictures now on photobucket but from there on it has been one hassle after another. Travis got his picture on his own site and now is having trouble doing it for me. I hope it isn't just a case of sabatoge, they are rather protective of me.
But I am getting tired of washing my hair every time just for pics and then nothing happens.
If tonight doesn't work I guess I will just take normal pics on a normal camera and then scan. I have had enough. I will be a year older if this continues. I will only show a partial face , the side I guess for baby Hasia. I just feel that is safer.
I am so happy M'Lord has come back. No more muppets for a while please. I mean I just had to read Ernie something or other and hasia has both bert and ernie puppets.
I think I am forgetting how to talk like a normal adult. help.

Askuwheteau is actually Algonquin, and it means "He Who Watches". It is the true name of one of my Native American characters, Lucas Spiritwalker.

About this last atvar. Playing the ghost of the Dastardly/Amazon Princess at the moment and having fun doing it, I have been referred to as a "Ghost Dragon". I had this image of a skeletal dragon who was fighting a knight, so I edited it for the atvar. If the ghost role turns stale, I'll go back to something else. Hee-ha!

Yes, you are quite correct. I wanted to have more but the character limiter convinced me otherwise.

"And the twice told fields of infancy
That his tears burned my cheeks and his heart moved in mine.
These were the woods the river and sea
Where a boy
In the listening
Summertime of the dead whispered the truth of his joy
To the trees and the stones and the fish in the tide.
And the mystery
Sang alive
Still in the water and singingbirds."

yep, it would be expensive, but i don't think it's painful.. I've got a tattoo and it didn't hurt one bit... it's only a small one though... i think it depends where it is. mine's on my back/shoulder.. there's mostly bones, a bit of skin and not many nerves there i think...
if you should really do it make sure it's not in a part of your body where you can grow fat, like belly, upper arms (is that what you call them?) etc...

should i change my avatar? i like my Seshomaru (sp?) and he fits in well with the colour scheme... but then I've had him for ages...

I have a tattoo as well, on my hip and you're right, it didn't hurt, but it was a fairly simple design, this avatar thing is so detailed, the needle would have to spend a lot more time on my skin. ;)

Thanks! I have been debating getting another for a few years. Still cannot make up my mind.

That's the hard part, isn't it? Deciding what and where. I want another one but I keep changing my mind about what. I had one in mind, a Tolkien related one because I'm a Tolkien geek and took it in to the tattoo place and they designed this incredibly beautiful and unique tattoo but because there was writing in it, it had to be fairly big to be legible, it would've stretched from one hip to the other...and...it would've cost over 200$ so I had to nix that one and find something a little simpler. I have another Tolkien one, a simple star design, that I'm giving some serious thought to.

I love the dragonfly Kathy! I've heard ankle ones do hurt, I think I'll stick to fleshier places. ;)

About this latest atvar and signature change: I am a total whacko sometimes I think, and I spend my time coming up with characters. Some are written into stories. Some are lined up for stories. And some I haven't figured out where they go just yet! I probably should have used the sign-on name PERSONA, for I am a man of many masks. A gun moll? Maybe!
Actually you are not too far off the mark when you wrote of a pulp magazine. The painting was done by pinup artist Alberto Vargas. He of course did some nudes (NOT rude or explicit but not for kids either) as well as some glamour type portraits as well and the painting that I took my avy from was clothed. I think alot of his work was featured in older editions of Playboy magazine and the like.

I just liked it because she had a cool "retro" look to her.

Vargas
February 9, 1896 - December 30, 1982

Some examples of Alberto's art work in the early thirties range from an "Imogene Wilson Fantasy" circa 1930, an "Art Deco Marlene Dietrich" painted for Paramount Studios yearbook in 1931, a sultry Barbara Stanwyck poster for Warner Brothers and Vitaphone Pictures' "Ladies They Talk About" in 1933 and a 1935 "Greta Garbo Image" which is simply a facial porfrait of her head, gold crowned and without eyes. it may sound a bit strange; but in person it's quite a majestic portrait.Later on when Alberto moved on to Paramount he painted the glamorous Hollywood queens; to name a few: Dorothy Lamour, Poulette Goddard and Hedy LaMar. However, in 1939, he returned back east with his wife and was persuaded to publish his girls In Esquire magazine. Alberto's biggest accolade came with the world-wide acclaim through these pages. His first 1940 Vargas Girl was an unprecedented success and led to many wonders including a portrait of Betty Grable for the movie "Moon Over Miami" which became the ultimate pin-up image in 1941. Around this same period twelve of Alberto's titillating Esquire Calendar showgirls came to life in a lavish Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer technicolor comedy 'Du Barry Was A Lady.' After Pearl Harbor, the American G.I.'s took the "Vargas Girls' literally all over the world. The 40's turned to the 50's, bringing more beauties. Alberto painted famous stars by the names of Jane Russell, Ava Gardner, Linda Darnell and the unforgettable Marilyn Monroe. At this same time Peru, his homeland, recognized him for achievements and awarded him the medal and brevet of knighthood in the Order of the Sun. And the United States accorded him a citation for the meritorious service to the country.

But oh, she is so much more than that in the eyes of some of her more fervent and dedicated admirers. :D

She also has the distinction of the second least-dressed Disney Princess. Ariel, the little mermaid, is the first.

I changed my avy (again). My current one is the first avy I used in the forum. Stan once called it "the classic sub" :D

Well, it's very compelling, Madhuri. I like it a lot.

Thank you Shout.

Yes Madhuri, it looks good. I have always been fond of these cartoons, Alladin.

Me too Pensy, I have watched these cartoons so many times, and I find all the characters of Alladin facinating.

Very pretty Madhuri. But forgive my age and ignorance, I do not know where it comes from.

Pensy is right Virgil, Jasmine is one of the central characters in the cartoon series Alladin. I am sure you must have heard of the stories of Alladin and his Genie, maybe you can recall now. :)

I am not sure if I understood correctly who you are referring to here. :)

Jasmine is least-dressed, well that is some news to me. I dont think she dresses up with minimal clothes, is this what you are referring to?? But whatever she wears I still like her as my avatar. :)

I dont know what is happening to me, I guess I have become dull. I take so much time to understand what people say in their posts :(

Well, Jasmine has that skimpy top and a pair of what looks roughly like baggy sweatpants. Ariel has just a purple clamshell brassiere, but to my knowledge, all of the other Disney Princesses wear lush dresses.

What about Esmeralda from Hunchback? She's got some pretty serious off-the-shoulder action going on there as well. ;)

I am not sure if I have finalised this one, but it is very close to something that I wanted for my avatar. So, for the time being this will remain. :)

I saw that hideous thing, and in the process of hurriedly averting my eyes, I pulled a muscle in my neckular region. I was going to demand recompense (from you or anybody else) but now that the graphic has been removed, hopefully we can all just put the situation behind us.

If you do decide to seek compensation, I would recommend the "anybody else" option. After all, doesn't the blame really belong with the person who grants us forumites the power to choose our own avatars--a power some of us clearly can't be trusted with? I'm as much a victim here as you are. Plus, I'm broke.

The second is a quote by Bill Struth - for everyone who doesnt follow Scottish football, he was the manager of Rangers in the early part of the last century and the first in a long line of great Scottish managers - Stein, Shankly, Busby, Ferguson, Souness, Smith etc
