Towards the Light:

Tell me where to go to lad,
And I will follow thee.
Lift your head and don’t be sad,
Take my hand and trust in me.

You need not fear what lies ahead,
For I will guide you there.
No matter of the tears we’ve shed,
Your fearful days I’ll share.

Go forward to the light you see,
And do not be afraid.
Let me be a guide to thee,
To comfort and to aide.

I’ll stay with you until that time,
You’re need for me grows less.
And when that staircase you do climb,
You’ll feel no more distress.

Your pain is awful, this I know,
You try to shield me well.
But just remember as you go,
I’m here for you to tell.

Remember too in these dark days,
You’ve been my guiding light.
I never shall forget your ways,
Your fortitude and sight.

You’ve been a rock for me my friend,
As I am now for you.
I’ll be beside you till the end,
And then I’ll say adieu.

You’ll be so happy when you reach,
The centre of the light.
Just like a walk along the beach,
The end will be in sight.

So go towards that shining light,
And let yourself be free.
I’ll hold your hand with all my might,
So long as you need me.

So close your eyes, for me once more,
And see what lies ahead.
And drift towards that distant shore,
And leave this weary bed.
