so i'm kinda new here.
and i needed help with the book.
i'm not very good with allusion.
so can some one please help me with it?
can you please tell me what are some of the allusion in this story that you know of.
it would really help me out a lot thank you so much.

Hardy alludes to Macbeth in his description of Angel; other philosphys/philosphers are Emile Zola(Theories of Naturalism), Charles Darwin, James Frazer, Arthur Schopenhauer,Paganism.

I just found a direct allusion in the book.

...just after Angel tells Tess about his father preaching at a young man with a similar situation to Alec's (it is actually Alec).
""O no--no!" replied she with grave hopelessness, as one who had heard anew the turmoil of her own past in the allusion to Alec d'Urberville. "It can't be!""
