So, people, we have been thinking (yeah, right) and have concluded that this forum needs a forum roleplay like dog needs fleas.
But this time it will be different.
Point of differency 1: There will be a DM - and that are we. (A DM is a person who creates the setting of the game, plays the parts of non-player-characters and says how the people or setting will react to players deeds. He/she runs the game and is almighty in the game world.)
Point of differency 2: There will be a limited number of players - 5-7 of them, though there can be less. (yes, we are sorry for all those who think that this is unfair, but we cannot DM more players)
Point of differency 3: There will be rules. So no havoc.
The Rules:
1. The DM (We) are almighty for the sake of conviniency of all and is always correct.
2. You only control your own character. You cannot control any non-player-characters (NPCs) or characters of other players. Even making the other person say something is not allowed
3. Posting shall be done in rounds – that is – when player A posts what he/she does then all the other players must have an opportunity to do something (or say that they miss that turn) and the DM to react and say how it affected things before A can do something again. The DM may post more often, of course.
4. We have been thinking whether to use dice in this game or not, and we think that in most cases, we can do without them. Still, there is a possibility that we’l have to involve them and in that case we will inform you through PM.
5. All questions and other such things should be sent through PM
6. No metagaming: that is: that what you know and what your character knows are two different things. They are known as IG (ingame) and OG (outgame) knowledge. IG and OG knowledge are kept separate.
7. There is a sort of thing called intuition. It means that you get extra information from the DM – your intuition tells you these things. How big your intuition is will be told to you by us.
8. When you attempt to do something, do not post the results. We will decide whether you succeeded. (e.g when your character tries to hit someone, we will say if you were successful)
So much about the rules. So, now a bit about the setting.
First, the setting will be a modern school. There will be horror and fantasy elements though and quite a lot of it.
The time will be mid-winter, after new-year, and to be more precise, at evening. It is already dark outside. It is sort of a school party – half of the school is there, including most of the teachers.
The school is quite an elite secondary school (grades 10-12, or ages 16-19). It doesn’t mean that one needs to pay to study there, but that there are tests when one enters in some subjects. We won’t speak much about the study system, subjects or even in which damn country that school is (ok, this may be necessary though, so let’s say, Sweden?) for that isn’t important.
Never mind your names. They don’t have to be Swedish names.
Oh, and also, there are school rings that are given to students in the beginning of their first year if they choose to order them.
The setting is: your character is at the party. The shoolhouse is quite big, it has three floors, is square shaped, and there’s a snowstorm howling out there. It is nice and warm inside though, and to get a nice feeling, most of the light have been put out and most of the illumination comes from candles. There are some famous people who have finished the school to make speeches about the importance of education and suchlike. There will be games and parties and things later but now noone does mostly nothing but wander around or speak to their friends.
We think that the system will be that if you want to participate, PM us and inform us which character you’d like to be. We will give you more information about the character then.
We propose the following chraracter outlines:
1. A teacher
2. A student, ordinary.
3. A student, with a very high intuition – understands most that is going all. Not very mentally stable.
4. A student, child of a nobleman. Wouldn’t say that (s)he is evil but (s)he has risk to it.
5. A student, member of a in-school special contra-system organization.
