Has anyone read Siddhartha by Herman Hesse? I read the book a year or so ago and loved the philosophy presented in it. I particularly liked how Hesse makes his character achieve salvation- by sinning and falling prey to desire and finally, pulling himself from its clutches. It seems a harder way than merely watching sin from a distance and trying to keep away from it.
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any views to share on the book?

well..anyways ways, i have read siddhartha and i quite agree with you "novellover". it is an interesting book dealling with the universal theme of finding the true self and meeting peace/contentment in this lifetime. i think we all strive to find inner moderation and we all get stuck in our own filth every now and then but hey you just have to have the will power to know when u had enough..TEMPERANCE. okie dokie well i just wanted to say i read that book too..heehee..see you around then...bye!
