Hello...does anyone know if emily dickinson put the date on any of her poems? A date is given to each and i want to know who put them there and how they know for sure that it is correct. Thanks

Yes, Emily did date some of her poems. However, I believe that in some cases the book (journal) in which she wrote them was dated to a year and some of her poems may go by that. (I could be wrong on this.) If you haven't already, maybe check the index or the preface to the book. If not you could google the first line of any poem and the date along with Dickinson, or try different combinations thereof. See what you come up with.

Basically, editors named Thomas Johnson and R.W. Franklin put most of the dates on her poems. Don't you do any simple research yourself?
