Adieu'

[ryokan]

:-? Upon the Japanese bridge
Enshrouded wisteria and lilac
Came we together after long days
And longer nights
Hesitant trying so hard to avoid

Yet down in the water
undercurrents moved
We spoke of ancient Rome
Of Ansel his sweet eye and soul
Of Venice and the shadows
When the bells toll distant from the Campanille

There were years of memory between
There were many days of hurt unknown to each seeker

I had sewn a cachou for you
You had come with Caravaggio
We watched the huge carp
Golden angels adrift in silent water pliant and secret and dreamy
Tree sheltered shade cooled
We hid the reality was too dear

And then somehow we embraced or lark moving perhaps the breeze moving in the sheltering trees
A moment only and currents flowed that had seemed worn shorn
the oneness

No more forlorn shall we be
How strange after all these years
That the bond should be there still

Opine Opine Opine what was
the time has winded out o'er desert and asserts the primacy of Nature
where none but rhymes of deep
allure allure allure air sweet air sure blessings of pure consent, content

Allez' allez' allez'
pray not this moment lost
The cost too too dear
Love's slipshod watchman

I brought you comlumbine
You brought gold cord
Pierced' hearts sans swords
We embraced by the Moorish fountain
seeming dry all these years
all these years and years

Eyes locked hands entwined
we walked down the bridge
into sheltering shadows
and disappeard disappeared
appear....

Really nice poem!

I haven't time to reply analytically, but to reveal one of my associations:

It strongly reminds of the word 'kamikaze' the Japanese for 'Divine Wind'.

I like the references to places, people (caravaggio), different languages (allez),...

It seems very deep and...oh I don't know how to describe it... kind of 'heavy', in the sense of full of significance... if this poem was solid it'd be impossible to lift, so full as it is with culture, style, meaning, ... I still can't explain the feeling it gives me as a first impression...

My first thought was 'I like it'... no after a few seconds of thinking and writing this, I feel 'like' is a too small word... it's... it's... impressive and majestic...yes majestic, I found the word!!! :)
