Hello derelictwriter welcome to the Literature Network :)

The first and most prominent Japanese writer that comes to mind is non other than Yukio Mishima (http://www.f.waseda.jp/mjewel/jlit/authors_works/modernlit/mishima_yukio.html)

I have read many of his works. The Sailor Who Fell from Grace with the Sea is one of his more well-known, which was also made into a movie.
