You probably hated this book because you were in the ninth grade when you read it. Try reading it with an air of maturity and see what happens. Silas Marner, is after all, a bit deeper than 'Which Way Books.'

I am also in the 9th grade and i do agree that this book was extremely boring. It takes George Eliot way too long to express each and every point of the novel. Stretching out each event like this makes the story not very appealing to read.

Sorry but I absolutely hated this book. I read it in 9th grade in HS and I remember having to re-read over and over. The author didn't know how to make paragraphs or sentences. I can find a 16 line sentence in there. The only amazing thing is that, although her sentences are extremely long, they are always grammatically correct. The book made me want to kill myself. The Cliff's Notes were interesting. That means to me it was a good idea for a story, but poorly executed. I shouldn't be speaking ill of the dead. Oh, well. Too late.
