I am in year 11 at high school and am currently studying turn of the screw in English. We are studying as part of the genre 'Gothicism' and i found the turn of the screw quite easy to understand, after knowing and understanding the gothic genre and its conventions. Watching the movie also assissted in identifying the themes, and the fact that it is left open to so much interpretation makes it successful. Anyone that complains about not understanding it is lazy, and the concept of leaving answers unanswered and having that element of the the unkown is what creates terror and horror
