The first book I read by D.H. Lawrence was "Women in Love" and I knew there was deep symbolism lurking under the words, but I couldn't quite decipher it. Then I read portions of his travel log "Etruscan Sketches" and it was like I had a decoder for "Women"! Understanding his philosophy through his experience of the Etruscan people was fascinating. I highly reccommend it.

I found this book extremely interesting.Descriptions of the feelings of protagonists are very emotive. The vantage points of the four protagonists are surprising in a way. Birkin's understanding the love as something superficial is very suprising. In my opinion it is quite difficult to catch up with his philosophy
