Stephen is a paranoid judgmental snob and i wanted to slap him. He was not worthy of thinking he could enter priesthood or defining art becuase he is too quick to judge everything with a negative attitude. He has very few original ideas excpet what he read from philosophers. He was rude to his family that provided him with an education. he moved from concrete ideas to abstarct and clearly couldn't tie the two togher to produce a good poem or prose.
