i think that hardy's use of nature that mirrors tess's feeling are fantastically achieved. moreover, he managed well in portraying tess as a victim of determinants like her family's feckless poverty, the selfishness of society and of primarily of the men in her life; Alec and Angel. sometimes though at that time hardy's portray of women was quite revolutionary, i still find him quite biased in his portrayel of tess as a victorian women. finally, though i like this book quite a lot, i still find that the tragedy is over emphasised.<br>
