If this book is claimed awful then its obviously not peoples forte. I agree that Hardy is an aquired taste not all literature lovers like Hardy, and I can imagine having to analyse it with a fine toothe comb is excruiating and not the best way to be introduced to a book. But I find this book is beautiful and touching, Hardy is unbiased and I felt for Tess as though she were real and I got so angry with Angel and yet like Tess I forgave him at the end. If I sound to deep into the book then excuse it is the most touching novel and Alec is the the human man who craves flesh.
