Tess of the D'Urbervilles is a fantastic novel and Thomas Hardy has cleverly woven many underlying themes such as that of fate into the story, which has the effect of making it a classic enjoyable read that enlighens the senses: it makes you cry with heartbreaking sorrow and scream out with absolute indignation and anger!
