I thought that the book Tess of the D'Urbervilles, although a challenging novel to read for people like myself who are unfortuate enough to have the "bad at English" gene, was a great read. The thing that I like most about it is that you can reread and everytime pick up something new from it, or find yet another symbol of Tess's 'doom'!
