Tess of the D' Urbervilles is a malodrama. The story is fantastic! In the beginning when Iwas reading the book, it did not catch my eye. But as you read the chapter when Tess meets Angel, the story goes up hill from there. I didn't the tone of the book because it was too grimly ironical. I also wish the ending could have happened a different way. Tess should not have died! But Hardy is a good writer. He uses a lot of foreshadowing and uses biblical terms in the book. He also compares and uses the scenaria with the characters by describing nature. Hardy's book was great and everyone should read it!
