Brave New World brought out in the 1930's what some of the most important issues are today, its almost impossible to read it without thinking what could our society become if we relented to social and genetic manipulation. Its interesting to note that Huxley's utopia was achieved through pleasure and wonder drugs, whereas Orwell's (1984, written AFTER the war) was created and held together with fear and pain. maybe after witnessing the Nazi totalitarian state orwell thought it was possible to create a future society in that shape, where huxley had never seen anything of that magnitute.
