I am in 9th grade, and i have finished this book. I really don't mean to offend anyone here, but I really didn't like this book at all! I live in a country where many people are Buddhist, and Herman Hesse really didn't capture the main ideas of ethier Buddhism or Hinduism. I really admire Siddhartha's spiritual journey, but did Herman Hesse really need to use such profound language that it made the actual menign of the novel less profound? It sounds to me like Hesse is trying to convey a huge message in just a few pages, and he really can't get away with it. I tried hard to like this book, but I really didn't. I thought it was boring and I thought that Herman Hesse was just trying to show off what he thinks he knows, which proved to me that he really doesn't know what he is talking about.
