The story of Siddhartha did not teach me anything that I was not already aware of. However I respect the lesson the story has to teach someone who has yet to discover their own way in life. Amidst the eloquent writing and beautiful landscapes depicted throughout the story one passage in particular appealed to me most. When Siddhartha is speaking with Gotama about how he cannot join because he must find his own way and seek his own goal. This passage reminded me of the lesson my parents have instilled upon me since day one and that is to never follow someone else's path, make my own.
