I read this book in my German class and was so intrigued by the types of "life questions" it was bringing up, that i took it out of the library and read it in English. While it's certainly true that much is lost in the translation, the message is still the same, and anyone can relate to Siddhartha's journey into himself. I am 26 and was at a crossroads, pondering huge life questions such as, "Who am I?" and "What am I?" Hermann Hesse's book came to me just at the time I needed it most, quite serendipitously. Our purpose in life is not to be anyone but ourselves, and to find our own purpose along that journey. This is a beautifully written book, in English or auf Deutsch and I highly recommend it to anyone questioning their own path in life.
